A NOTE from the EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR:

We Get Results!

Results are not only in for our candidates, but also for Annie’s List as an organization. I’m delighted to report that we have much to celebrate! In sum, we have:

- protected ALL of our incumbents

- elected five new progressive Democratic women to the Texas Legislature

- from 2006 to 2008, doubled our fundraising and political contributions

- recruited over 160 steering committee members to serve on regional steering committees across the state

We have you, our dedicated supporter, to thank for providing the necessary resources so that we could be so successful.

So, I offer my deepest thanks for your past generous support of Annie’s List. At the same time, I ask that you look with me to the future. With a faltering economy and financial anxiety plaguing our country, the next two years will be a true test of our mettle. The staff and board of Annie’s List are prepared to meet the challenges ahead, but we can only succeed with you at our side.

Trust me, I know what it’s like to look at a stack of financial requests from worthy organizations and to struggle in deciding which to support, wishing I could support all but knowing that I can’t. At that point, I ask myself, “Which of these organizations does the best job of advancing my agenda of making Texas a more just and fair state where everyone can thrive and prosper?” and “Which ones provide the best results for my investment in their work?”

The tremendous success of Annie’s List in the last two years alone demonstrates that your investment in our work and our vision provides strong results. As we continue to elect more progressive Democratic women (and we will!), policy discussions – and ultimately decisions – will start to provide outcomes that help women improve their lives rather than impair them.

Please, continue to stand by our side. Keep on working with us to change the face of power in Texas so we can better the lives of women and their families.

History of Success

In the just 5 years since, Annie’s List has been in existence we have already seen major successes. We helped elect the Houston City Controller (who handles the City’s $2.6 Billion budget), protected all our incumbent State Representatives and helped thirteen women get elected to the state legislature including one to the State Senate. We are now just two seats away from taking back the Texas House of Representatives in large part due to the women that we have helped elect.
